One thing is for sure: Carleton Carpenter does not like to limit his options—whether it’s his professional or personal life. He is attracted to both men and women, which makes him one of the very few artists from his generation to have openly declared such a fact.

Professionally, Carpenter started off as a magician and Broadway actor. He then moved to films in the early ’50s, a career which he fostered till the early ’80s. During this time, he had also tried his hand on songwriting. Towards the end of his acting career, he had established himself as a great book writer as well.
