Beverly Cleary is the odd one out in this list of celebrities, as her main craft is writing. In the 50’s she wrote children’s fiction which sold over 91 million across multiple countries. Cleary studied at the University of Washington and she also worked as a librarian there. At 105 years old, she has earned over $20 million and has received multiple awards for her work, including a Newbery Medal. There happens to be a public school in Portland that is named after her – The Beverly Cleary School. There are also a number of statues of her most famous book characters erected at the Grant Park in Portland.

Patti LuPone – Now 72

After earning a degree in one of the world’s leading art schools, Juilliard, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Patti LuPone became a top singer and actress. Patti is famous for her strong belting voice, which is why she has starred in several stage musicals and even won Olivier, Grammy, and Tony Awards as a result. Some of the performer’s award-winning works include ‘The Robber Bridegroom’ and ‘Les Miserables.’

Before you think Patti is all for singing and nothing else, the actress has described herself as “an actor who sings” and has proven that she can hold her own onscreen in films like ‘Law & Order’ and a more recent series, ‘Penny Dreadful.’
