Irene Papas is amongst the best actresses Greece has ever produced. She belonged to a family of artistic passion, as her father was a drama teacher. Acting as a career is probably the easiest decision she had to make. Irene typically starred as heroines from Greek plays, but she gained worldwide attention for her role on ‘Zorba the Greek’, starring along with Anthony Quinn. Some of her other notable films include ‘The Guns of Navarone’ and ‘The Trojan Woman’ which featured Katherine Hepburn. She last acted in 2003, in A Talking Picture.
