When Traditions Can’t Save Face

Certain wedding traditions feel outdated and might be better left behind. Take, for example, the garter removal. It’s a moment that’s arguably less awkward when the bride’s dress offers full coverage, but with a snug gown, the scene can quickly become uncomfortable. After the garter is removed, the groom typically tosses it into the crowd, similar to the bouquet toss, with the belief that whoever catches it will be blessed with a great love life. While this ritual has persisted over the years, one has to wonder if it’s time to reconsider its place in modern weddings.
