Mel Brooks, 96, Born In 1926 – Olympians
Like so many other patriotic Americans of his era, Mel Brooks enlisted in the Army and fought in World War II. But after getting back from the great war, the passionate musician started working the New York club scene playing the drums and piano for any group that would have him.
This was also when he worked on his screenplay writing, discovering his love for parody. This practice came perfect for classic films like Story Of The World pt1, Young Frankenstein, Spaceball, and Robin Hood: Men In Tights. His talents won him the EGOT, and he’s currently filming voice work for a 2021 film called Blazing Samurai.
