Linda Hunt, originally named Lydia Susanna Hunt, stands out as a remarkable talent in American cinema and theater. Her acting career kicked off with her role as Mrs. Oxheart in the movie Popeye, but it was on stage that she first made a significant impact. Initially aspiring to direct, Hunt soon found her true passion in acting. She debuted in the theater world with a notable performance in the Long Wharf Theatre’s 1972 production of Hamlet, and just a few years later, she graced Broadway in Eugene O’Neill’s Ah, Wilderness! in 1975.
