Jack Rader – Now 103
In the mid-’60s, Jack Rader was a seasonal actor who taught at Columbia’s College theater. He has acted in several shows such as ‘Picket Fences’ and as a sinister imperial guard in ‘The Star Wars Holiday Special’ of 1978. The talented actor also appeared as a detective in ‘Amityville: The Evil Escapes.’
His theater experience added to his vast acting repertoire, one of them as a shopkeeper in the 1989 play ‘Copy Desk.’ Jack’s last known appearance was in 2004 as a priest in an episode of ‘Medical Investigation.’ We hope the yesteryear actor keeps good health and enjoys his retirement surrounded by family.
Rhea Perlman – Age 76
Cascading excellence in versatile roles is an art the American actress Rhea Perlman has mastered. Of course, we know playing Carla Tortelli on ‘Cheers’ wasn’t a task so easy, but this lady did it with such pizzaz that arrays of award nominations were written to her name. Among them are the prestigious ‘Emmy Awards,’ four of which she won.
Though the early ’70s marked Perlman’s debut in the film industry, only in the next decade did her career catch impressive momentum. It has been about half a century; still, stints like ‘Taxi,’ ‘Matilda,’ and ‘Poms’ ensure the actress a good share of constant limelight. No wonder her stellar performances get ranked among the industry’s classics.
