Mark Zuckerberg – $59 Million, Lake Tahoe

For those with deep pockets, buying a whole complex can be a wise choice. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, is one such example. In 2019, he purchased two side-by-side mansions on Lake Tahoe for a total of $59 million. The neighbourhood is also home to the families of Bill Hewlett (founder of Hewlett-Packard) and Charles McClatchy (publishing icon). The view from these homes may be worth the hefty price tag. Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have also bought 10 properties in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Kauai and Lake Tahoe. Interestingly, there is still a market for housekeepers to live in vacant homes and help protect them – something that may seem like something out of Downton Abbey.
