Tom O’Connor – 81
Tom O’Connor entered show business because he loved to make people laugh. In the early ’70s, besides working as a maths and music teacher at a school, he worked evenings as a comic at many clubs in the Liverpool area. There was no looking back for him after getting a break in the play, Opportunity Knocks.
He has acted in several TV shows since, notable of which is Doctors. Still, O’Connor’s claim to fame is as a presenter for a string of game shows like Name That Tune and Crosswits. Even till 2014, the 81-year-old has been touring as a comic! He has since ventured into writing books and playing golf.
