Valerie Harper – 79
Valerie Harper, like a few other celebrities on the list namely Cloris Leachman and Ed Asner, came to fame on ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’. She found her way into Hollywood after that and appeared in spin-off series ‘Rhonda’. Later, she was casted as Valerie Hogan in ‘Valerie’. Her career helped her build a $12 million net worth and in the 70’s and 80’s Valerie was an avid activist for the Women’s Liberation Movement. Sadly, she fell ill in 2009 when she was diagnosed with brain cancer, and the doctors determined that it was terminal. Still battling cancer in 2016, she appeared in short film ‘My Mom and The Girl’. Despite being told that she only had 3 months left to live, Valerie persevered and 5 years later she is still going strong.
