Max Schmeling was a German professional heavyweight boxing champion who held the title from 1930 to 1932. His 2 fights against Joe Louis reached worldwide hype and are regarded as historical and cultural events. Max’s career began in 1924 and he retired in 1948. His death came in February 2005 when he was 99 years old. He lived out his days in affluence and reportedly owned this house in Berlin, Germany from 1939 to 1946. After Max’s death, a bronze statue of him was put up in Hollenstedt in 2010.
